"Editing music is about more than matching cuts to a beat; it is about capturing the breath of a performance and the soul of the artist. Whether shaping a four-part Wagnerian cycle, documenting the life of a jazz legend like Annie Ross, or defining the visual language of MTV by editing more than 660 MTV shows and over 500 VH1 shows in total over about 1,000 hours of content, my approach remains the same: I treat the edit as a rhythmic composition. I use pace, silence, and visual counterpoint to translate the emotional intensity of music into a compelling cinematic narrative."
